July 24-27, 2014
Tenth Avenue Arts Center, 930 10th Ave, Downtown San Diego, 92101
San Diego, CA – May 20, 2014. With geek season just around the corner, Gam3rCon and the Geekie awards have joined forces to promote and celebrate gaming culture and the geeky arts! Every July, thousands of geeks flock to San Diego. For the fifth year in a row, Gam3rCon will host an affordable, family friendly convention for gamers, geeks, and industry professionals. Open daily from July 24 – July 2, 12pm – 12am, Gam3rCon sparks the Tenth Avenue Arts Center with their infamous old-school Retrocade, a competitive Video Game Arena, a community Tabletop Gaming Lounge, Industry Panels, geek-themed theatre, game-inspired artwork, geeky rooftop parties, comedy, cosplay and concerts. Thanks to this year’s title sponsor, Media Design School, Gam3rCon will have a second space to fill with geekery this July. Media Design School will be offering up their facilities at the NewSchool of Architecture and Design, just two blocks away from the Tenth Avenue Arts Center, to host Gam3rCon’s competitive Video Game Arena in addition to providing over $3,000 in tournament prizes.
Just like Gam3rCon is a convention by gamers for gamers, The Geekie Awards is an award show for geeks by geeks, recognizing achievements in a number of categories such as Video Games, Tabletop Games, Cosplay, Vlogs, and Film. Gam3rCon is sponsoring the Geekie Awards Tabletop Gaming Category. At Gam3rCon, attendees can experience the Geekie Award nominated tabletop games and meet the developers. Video game and tabletop category applicants will receive a complimentary day pass to Gam3rCon and category nominees will receive a week long pass. The Geekie Awards are accepting submissions from now up until May 31 and the nominees will be announced July 21 followed by the live broadcast ceremony in August.
Gam3rCon is committed to supporting the gaming community in an active and meaningful way by bringing developers and gamers together on a regular basis at their monthly “Gam3 Days” throughout the year. “We’re getting developers the feedback they need to make great games, and giving gamers the opportunity to impact their community in a positive way,” says Gam3rCon team member, Josh Stolze. Game developers are encouraged to submit their unpublished games for play-testing at the convention and share the fruits of their labor with gaming attendees.
Gam3rCon is proud to partner with the The Geekie Awards to celebrate all of the hard work that goes into creating a great tabletop experience. Come out and play this July! All ages are welcome and kid discounts are available. Buy your tickets today at www.Gam3rCon.com.
